NYB Gallery presents Caitlin Agnew's debut solo, Dans La Lumière. This will also be NYB's first solo exhibition with a local artist. We are very excited to support Caitlin and her work through this must-see show.

Caitlin Agnew primarily creates large-scale, abstract, acrylic florals. Her work can be described as feminine and whimsical, yet bold. In her current series, "Into the Light", her use of bold dark colors balances out her use of light and whispy florals.

During the 2020 pandemic is when Caitlin's work began to blossom. She followed an inner desire to paint abstract florals and further explore her artistic talents. Without any formal training, the inspiration for her work comes from an inner calling and desire to simply find joy in the creative process. Caitlin describes her process as spontaneous. She primarily uses acrylic paints applied to canvas with a mix of pallet knives and brushes.

Growing up, there was a Monet painting of a young girl walking through a field of flowers hanging in the hallway that Caitlin could see from her bedroom. She credits this early exposure to Monet's work as a possible inspiration for her style of work.

While painting her first pieces, she discovered that the birds visiting her balcony were little finches and upon looking up their spiritual meaning, she knew her art was to be named after these birds.
